My Reflection on Learning English
It is no doubt that to learn English well we must master skills in five aspects: listening, speaking, reading, writing as well as translating. Here I just focus on the first two skills. We usually put listening as the first, of course, it has the reason. Listenin
2、g can be the key in the process of learning any language. It reminds me of the childhood. When we are just infants, we don’t know how to read, how to write or even how to speak, the only way for us to learn mother tongue is just listening. Kids from 1 to 2 years old learn speaking mainly by sources
3、from mother to daddy’s conversation or other amusing entertainments. More specific, listening can be divided into intensive and extensive. Make sure that you will have half an hour of extensive listening. When we are in extensive listening, we don’t have to concentrate on what we are listening to, j
4、ust putting the emphasis on intonation, rhyme as well as the speed. It just seems to be a way of training your feeling or your ears responding to English. Intensive listening is very difficult and complicated. We need to have strong will and be patient because it requires of we repeating the part we
5、 didn’t catch over and over again.
When it comes to speaking, I have three tips. Pronunciation should be the base, so correcting pronunciation is always necessary. Intonation, rhyme as well as the speed is the blood of body. We need all so that we can survive the speaking. To improve this, imitati
6、on is never outdated to be applied. The American TV dramas, BBC, VOA or the essays can be the source of imitation.
Here I want to say more about oral English. Since I am not good at speaking, I spent a lot of time looking for a way to improve it. Finally I conclude my way. Just as a saying said, “l(fā)
7、earning English is like learning swimming. You will never acquire it unless you go into the water.” Here are some my tips for you to practice oral English:
Firstly, spend half an hour talking to yourself. The topics can be anything, such as food, clothes, movie plot, music, story, news, joke or eve
8、n your trouble. Speak English as possible as you can, if you don’t speak, then you don’t have chance to take mistakes and correct it. If condition permitting, use a cell phone to record what you have said, and listen to it. Try your best to find your flaws and make up for it.
Secondly, go to Englis
9、h corner and talk to others. It’s better if you can find a foreigner. If you can’t, don’t worry. Non-native speaker also helps. It’s ridiculous that people believe only native speakers can help us improve English. Actually, our classmates also work. Why? They improved our grammar. The more grammar m
10、istakes they expose in conversation, the less mistakes you will have in next talk.
Last one is to recite. Our memory is just like a box. Only you often open it then you can get what you want. Try your best to read more and recite more. If you want to live a memorable life, then you have to memorize
11、. Don’t complain to me that you don’t have time. You can squeeze it. We never know that how much time we have lost.
I must say that there is no shortcut in learning a language. The best way is to repeat and imitate. To master a language, we must be expert on at least one skill of the five. You
12、can poor in reading or writing, but you have to be excellent in the rest of all. If all the skill is middle or low, it is too dangerous. And in my opinion, listening and speaking are closely related. If you can do better in listening, then you have no problem in speaking. In the similar way, reading
13、, writing and translating are also together. Of course, we need reading skill so that we can listen and speak. In fact, all the skills are linked to each other. The purpose we learn a language actually is to understand what a foreigner says and convey our ideas to them, so the ends of learning a lan
14、guage is translation. The way to test whether you are an advanced English learner is to check what your translating level is.
我對(duì)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的反思
毫無(wú)疑問(wèn)想學(xué)好英語(yǔ)我們必須掌握英語(yǔ)的五項(xiàng)技能:聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫(xiě)和譯。在這我主要注重在前兩個(gè)技能上。我們通常把聽(tīng)放在第一位,當(dāng)然是有原因的。聽(tīng)是學(xué)習(xí)各種語(yǔ)言的過(guò)程中最關(guān)鍵的部分。這使我想到了我的童年。當(dāng)我們還是幼兒時(shí),我們不知道如何讀、如何寫(xiě)、甚至是如何說(shuō),那時(shí)學(xué)習(xí)母語(yǔ)的唯一方法便是聽(tīng)。1至2歲的小孩主要是通過(guò)父母間的談
15、話或是其它的有趣的娛樂(lè)活動(dòng)來(lái)學(xué)說(shuō)話。更加具體一點(diǎn)就是說(shuō),聽(tīng)可以分為精聽(tīng)與泛聽(tīng)。每天確保你有半小時(shí)的泛聽(tīng)。當(dāng)我們進(jìn)行泛聽(tīng)時(shí),我們不需要將注意力集中在內(nèi)容上,而應(yīng)該是關(guān)注它的語(yǔ)音、語(yǔ)調(diào)和語(yǔ)速上。這似乎是一種訓(xùn)練你的語(yǔ)感或耳朵反映的靈敏度。精聽(tīng)是非常困難以及復(fù)雜的。我們需要有很強(qiáng)的意志力和耐心,因?yàn)樗枰覀円槐楸橹貜?fù)沒(méi)聽(tīng)懂的部分直到聽(tīng)懂。

17、有所提高是謬論。事實(shí)上,我們的同學(xué)也能夠提供幫助。為什么呢?因?yàn)樗麄兡軌蛱岣呶覀兊恼Z(yǔ)法能力。在談話中他們暴露越多的語(yǔ)法錯(cuò)誤,在下次交談中我們就會(huì)犯越少的語(yǔ)法錯(cuò)誤。
最后一個(gè)是背誦。我們的記憶就像一個(gè)盒子,只有當(dāng)你經(jīng)常打開(kāi)它時(shí),你才能得到你想要的。盡可能多讀多背。如果你想過(guò)一個(gè)難忘的生活你就需要記憶。不要抱怨說(shuō)沒(méi)有時(shí)間。你可以把時(shí)間擠出來(lái)的,我們永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)知道我們失去了多少時(shí)間。
我必須說(shuō)的是在學(xué)習(xí)語(yǔ)言的道路上是沒(méi)有捷徑可以走的。最好的方法就是重復(fù)和模仿。想要掌握一門(mén)語(yǔ)言,我們至少需要精通一種技能。你可以不擅長(zhǎng)讀或者寫(xiě),但是你必須精通剩下的技能。如果所有的技能都只是中等甚至是極差的話,就很危險(xiǎn)了。在我看來(lái),聽(tīng)與說(shuō)是密切相關(guān)的。如果你在聽(tīng)力上很擅長(zhǎng),那在說(shuō)的方面也是不會(huì)有問(wèn)題的。類(lèi)似的,閱讀、寫(xiě)作和翻譯也是相關(guān)的??隙ǖ氖牵覀冃枰喿x以便于我們的聽(tīng)與說(shuō)。實(shí)際上,所有的技能都是相關(guān)的。我們學(xué)語(yǔ)言的目標(biāo)是理解外國(guó)人所說(shuō)的,并將我們的想法傳達(dá)給他們,因此學(xué)習(xí)語(yǔ)言的最高層次就是翻譯。而測(cè)試你是否是高級(jí)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)者的方法就是檢測(cè)你的翻譯水平。
