Unit 1 The Magic Show
I Warm up(ten minutes)
1 Greeting
T: Class begins. Good morning boys and girls!
Ss: Good morning, Miss Wu.
T: Sit down, please.

T: The game is very easy. I will say a word. For example,” magic”. You should say “It’s a nun. Magic. m-a-g-i-c.” Do you understand me? If you know, you should stand up and say it out as quickly as you can. I w

T: Are you ready?
Ss: Yes, we are ready.
3 Before listening(five minutes)
T: Well done! Team 2 is good. If you are good and time permits, we will play another game. Today, we will learn a new lesson. Lesson 1. The Magic Show. Do you like magic shows?
S: Yes

T: Who has ever seen magic shows?
S: I have seen an amazing magic show on the television.
T: Wonderful! Do you remember the magician’s name?
S: No.
(Draw the students’ attention to the pictures on the page.)
T: Let’s look at the picture on the upper left. Maybe he is the magician you h

S: Merlin.
T: What made you think so?
S: From the sign on the wall. It reads, “The World Famous Merlin.”

S: He is trying to pull a rabbit out of an empty hat.

S: Liu Chang went to a magic show and he is telling Tim about it .
T: Exactly. Ask them to write the correct numbers next to the sentences in
the left box. Then ask the students to match the two parts of each sentence.

T: Merlin is really a good magician. He taught Liu Chang a magic trick. Are you interested in it ? OK. Let’s listen to the tape together. After that you will know what it is ?
