3、ned with being accepted by American culture than connecting with their African heritage.As a result,jazz was ultimately more closely linked to European music in style than to African music. G ospelIn an effort to convert Africans to Christianity and to “save their souls,” slave owners made their sla

4、ves learn the Bible and attend church services.However,African American church services remained segregated (隔離) from white services.So,AfricanAmerican congregations (教堂會(huì)眾) developed a unique style of hymns that would later evolve into gospel music.Gospel music came from the original “spirituals” su
