Main idea of the passage It’s hard to set criteria for a good teacher. A teacher can be respected by different students for different advantages. Main idea of the 1st paragraph Mrs. Li is a good teacher because she is kind, patient and tolerant. Main idea of the 2nd paragraph Mrs. Chen is a strict but good teacher because her teaching is well organised and clear. Main idea of the 3rd paragraph Mr. Wu is a good teacher because he is good-looking, energetic and humorous. 探究二: A box graph of the text III.A retold pa 探究三:A retold passage of the text 1. Ask the students to read any paragraph in “Reading and Vocabulary” again first. 2. Give the students each a piece of paper with the paragraph they’ve just read but without any punctuations or any capitalized words. And ask the students to punctuate this paragraph, using full stops, capital letters, question marks and commas where necessary. ( Show the students’ work on the screen and see if the students can do it correctly. There might be some differences from the punctuations used in the passage, but if they are acceptable, they are O.K.) 3. Get the students to discuss why they punctuate the passage like this by asking some questions. (1) Why do you punctuate your passage like this? (2) Why are punctuations important in writing (3) What is also important besides punctuations in writing? ( Help the students to sum up by themselves how to use punctuations in a passage. And remind them of the importance of punctuation marks and capital letters.) 探究四: Summary 1. Give the students some time to recall what they’ve learned in this class. ( Ask the students to think by themselves first, then discuss in pairs and finally share in class.) 2. Ask the students to call out as many verbs as possible which can be followed by V-ing. 3. Get the students to say the adjectives used to modify a person. 感悟方法練習(xí): Write a summary of the text. A possible version: Mrs. Li is a kind and patient teacher. She explains English grammar clearly, so even who is not good at English can understand it. She never scolds a student when he has made a mistake. She just smiles. The whole class really likes working with her. Mrs. Chen is a very strict teacher, so the students in our class are afraid of her and some even dislike her. But because her teaching is well organised and clear, most of us really appreciate her and a few students even admit liking her. I’m not good at Physics but I do well in the exam with Mrs. Chen teaching us. Mr. Wu is already very popular even though he has been teaching us for only two weeks. He really enjoys teaching Chinese literature, so he is always energetic in class. He is good-looking and talks loudly and fast. He is humorous because he waves his hands about a lot when he is excited and he tells jokes when we are getting bored.
