111 Module 2 My New Teachers Language Points 1.They say that first impressions are very important. They say=It is said=Sb is said to do 據(jù)說 It is said that ……/He is said to …. They say that good things come to those who bother to seize the opprtunity.有人說好事情總是眷顧那些努力抓住機會的人 2.My first impression of Mrs Li was that she was nervous and shy. one’s first impression of sb/sth對…的第一印象 My first impression of Ben Laden was that he was very handsome. leave/make/have a +adj+ impression on sb 給某人留下…的印象 The thief left him a very deep impression. be impressed with/by/at sth 對…有印象 I’m impressed with his sense of humour. They were very impressed by his new house. impress sb with sth 給某人留下…的印象 China impressed this foreigner with the high speed of development. impress on 使…明白重要性;印上 impress on sb sth=impress sth on sb He impressed on me the importance of work. He impressed his name on the box. 3.I think perhaps she was, as it was …省略句 èI think perhaps she was nervous and shy, as…… Because 強調(diào)原因或理由,回答why的提問 Since =now that, 既然 (表示已為人知的原因,強調(diào)關(guān)系上的自然結(jié)果) As 只說明一般的因果關(guān)系,放在主句前后均可 For 連接一個表原因的并列分句,主要放在兩個并列句之間,表直接的、隨便的附加說明的理由或推斷的理由。 4.the class really likes working with her.喜歡 Love 熱愛 指引起深厚的、強烈的感情的愛 I love my people, I love my country. Be fond of 喜歡 熱愛 表示對某人或某事有感情,語氣要次于“l(fā)ove” The child is fond of sweet food. Like 喜歡 不反感 Do you like reading? Enjoy 欣賞 喜歡 具有“滿足感”I enjoy Russian folk songs. 5.She avoids making you feel stupid避免 Avoid doing something 避免做某事 feel like doing sth 想要做某事 總結(jié):后跟v+ing形式作賓語的動詞有: admit, keep, consider, suggest, finish, delay, imagine, avoid, mind, put off, enjoy, require, practise, can’t help, give up, can’t stand 6.I’v always hated making mistakes… Hate to do sth/hate doing sth. 系動詞+ to do -- ...去做(強調(diào)動作) 系動詞+ doing -- ...做(強調(diào)狀態(tài)) 總結(jié):后面既可跟to do 又可跟v-ing的動詞有: love, like, hate, prefer, begin, continue, stop, forget, remember, can’t afford, intend, plan, neglect 7. Mrs. Li just smiles, so that you don’t feel completely stupid. (1) so that, so ….that…因此 引導結(jié)果狀語從句: ? He spoke fast, so that I didn't catch him. ? He spoke so fast that I didn't catch him. (2) so that = in order that為了如此...以至于;以便 引導目的狀語從句 1) He got up early so that/ in order that he could catch the first bus. 2) He got up so early that he caught the first bus. so … that such …that so+adj./adv.+that clause(so后跟形容詞或副詞) such(a/an)+n.+that clause(such后跟名詞) 例如: It was so cold that we did not want to go out. It was such a cold day that we did notwant to go out. 天太冷了,我們都不想出去。 The play was so interesting that I went to see it several times. This was such an interesting play that I went to see it several times. 這個話劇十分有趣,所以我去看過好幾次 Correct the following sentences: 1.He made such many mistakes that the teacher got angry. ______ 2. He ate such little food that he was hungry again. _____ 當名詞前有many,much,few,little(少)時,不用such,而用so. 3.I ate so much food that I was sick. 4.They were such little boxes that he could carry six once. So與that引導的結(jié)果狀語從句連用置于句首時, 主句動詞與主句倒裝。 So loudly did he speak that everyone could hear him clearly. So quickly did the woman finish their work that they were given a bonus. 8.She goes a bit too slowly for the faster students. go 進行 a bit = a little 9.but for me it’s wonderful! wonderful = amazing/brilliant wonder 奇跡 make progress 取得進步 10. We don’t dare to say a word unless she asks us to. 1) He dare not go home alone at night. 2) He doesn’t dare to go home alone at night. dare 作為實意詞用于否定及疑問句中時,后可跟動詞原形。 dare 作情態(tài)動詞,無時態(tài)和人稱變化,有過去式dared daren’t He doesn’t dare (to) go out alone. 他不敢一個人出去。 didn’t dare (to) unless 除非,如果不,等于“if not”本身就表示否定,引導條件狀語從句,主句為將來時,條件狀語從句用一般現(xiàn)在時表示將來。 例:My baby sister doesn’t cry unless she’s hungry. 11. There are a few students in our class who keep coming to class late. who keep coming= keeping coming定語從句 12. appreciate ①感激;感謝 I appreciate your help. 我感謝你的幫助。 We greatly appreciate your timely help. 我們非常感謝你們的及時幫助 ②鑒賞;欣賞;賞識 Do you appreciate good wine? 你會鑒賞好酒嗎? You can't fully appreciate foreign literature in translation. 看翻譯作品很難欣賞到外國文學的精髓. appreciate的幾種方法: 1.appreciate sth 例: I appreciate your kindness. 多謝厚意。 2.appreciate doing sth 例: We shall appreciate hearing from you again. 我們恭候佳音。 3. appreciate +that從句 I really appreciate that god send me a beautiful girl to me like you ! 我真很感激上帝送給一個像你這么漂亮的女孩給我 13. As a result my work is improving. as a result 結(jié)果 1)He studies very hard, and as a result, he makes great progress. as a result of = because of 作為...的結(jié)果 2)He has made great progress as a result of hard working. as a result 作為狀語來用 as a result of + 名詞 As a result , we failed the game. 結(jié)果我們輸了那場比賽. as a result of the accident 事故的結(jié)果... 3) 由于天氣惡劣我遲到了。I was late as a result of bad weather 14. I think that I’ll do well in the exam with Mrs. Chen teaching me. do well / badly in He do well in English,but do better in maths. 他英語好,數(shù)學更好 15. Mr. Wu’s only been teaching us for two weeks. have / has been doing 現(xiàn)在完成進行時 現(xiàn)在完成時:動作業(yè)已完成 現(xiàn)在完成進行時:動作可能剛剛停止或者還 在進行。 He’s been watching television all day. The ground is wet. It has been raining. Work, live, teach, study等詞用兩種時態(tài)都可以,意思差別不大。 He’s been living here for ten years.He has lived here for ten years. 16. He loves it, in fact. in fact = as a matter of fact 實際上 1) As a matter of fact, I don’t know the truth. 2) He doesn’t mind. In fact he’s pleased. 17. He talks loudly and fast. aloud 側(cè)重于“讓人聽見”I read the story aloud to my brother. loud指“響亮地、大聲地”Please speak a bit louder. loudly 與副詞loud用義,可互換Don’t talk too loud(ly). 18. He tells jokes when he thinks we’re getting bored. 1) That’s just a joke. 2) It’s no joke. play a joke on sb 戲弄… 開玩笑… 3) Don’t play a joke on the disabled. 19.fall asleep 入睡 fall asleep v. 入睡, 長眠, 懈怠, 靜止不動 強調(diào)入睡的動作 be asleep adj. 睡著的, 睡熟的 強調(diào)睡著的狀態(tài) 表示狀態(tài) He is asleep. 他在睡覺。 20.strict be strict with sb. 對…嚴格 后接人 be strict to sth. 對….嚴格 后接事情 be strict with sb in sth 對某人某事要求嚴格 21.amusing/amused amused adj. 被逗笑的 amusing adj. 有趣的, 好玩的, 逗人笑的 His wit made even troubles seem amusing. 他的風趣能使麻煩事也變得似乎有趣。 22.laugh with 與…一起笑 laugh at 嘲笑, 漠視, 因...發(fā)笑 They laugh at him.他們譏笑他 23.make sure查明;設(shè)法確保,確定 at any time 隨時 agree with 同意,與…一致 on time 準時 most of us 我們大多數(shù) tell jokes 講笑話 in the wrong way 錯誤地方法 in the right way 正確地方法 be good at 擅長 it’s up to you你來決定 24.respect respect n.
