Procedure: Step 1 lead-in ? Have you ever seen dramas either on TV or in a theatre? ? Do you enjoy seeing dramas? ? Have you imagined acting in dramas? Step 2 the first drama “The invisible bench” Read the first drama and answer the following questions: ? Is there a bench in the courtyard? ? What does the word “invisible” mean? ? Is this a edy? Why or why not? ? What do you think the playwright wants to tell us? Step 3 the second drama “The important paper” Go through the second drama, and answer the following questions: ? How many characters are there in the play? ? Who do you think is the main character/ hero in the play? ? What does the King actually want? ? Why are the others unable to understand him? ? In what style of stand-up edy is this play? ? How does the playwright make the play funny? Step 4 language focus Useful expressions: ? as if / crossing and uncrossing legs / mind / wander over / must have done / Your Majesty ? a stack of / glare at Step 5 exercises: fill in the blanks 1. Do Part D1 and D2 on page 103 in workbook. 2. Prepare for your presentation Project Teaching aims: Improve the students’ ability and provide practice. Give presentations to the other students. Important points & difficult points: Present the drama to the whole class. Choose the best actor, actress, director, props, and costumes. Procedure: Step 1 lead-in: Teacher shows students the rules of how to present. l planning l preparing l producing l presenting Step 2 Planning: (1). Get into groups (5-6Ss per group) (2). Decide which play to act out (3). Clear assignments: Who will be the actors/ actresses? Who will be the director? Who will find props? Who will make costumes? Step 3 Preparing : (1). Actors and actresses should recite all their lines. (2). All props needed should be found. (3). All costumes needed should be made. (4). Director should be in charge of all things related to the play. Step 4 Producing: Practice the play before performing to other classmates. Step 5 Presenting: (1). Each group should present your play to the others. (2). You decide which group’s performance is the best. (3). You decide who is the best actor and actress. (4). You decide who is the best director. (5).You decide which group’s props and costumes are the best. Step 6 Awards: Teacher values which group does a better job. Teacher also invites the students to talk about which they like best, and why. Awards will be given to the best ones. Step 7 Homework: 1. Review words and phrases in this unit. 2.
