(answer: to explore space) 設(shè)計(jì)意圖： 通過播放神州5號(hào)和6號(hào)升天的片段，激發(fā)學(xué)生對(duì)太空探索的興趣;對(duì)航天英雄的熱愛，同時(shí)學(xué)生也為我們的祖國所取得的成就感到自豪與驕傲。再由表格和問題引入到本節(jié)課的話題: the conquest of the Universe（to explore space）. Q1. How did people feel when they watched the first moon landing? Q2. How did people feel about space travel a few years later? Q3. What was different about the space shuttle? Q4. Why did people want to watch the Challenger take off? Q5. What did the Challenger disaster teach the world? Q6. How did the writer feel after witnessing the accident on TV? 2.Ask the students to work in pairs to find out the main idea of each paragraph. Para1: the first Moon landing Para2: the first shuttle flight into space Para3-5: the explosion of the Challenger Part2: the writer’s witness of the explosion of the Challenger 設(shè)計(jì)意圖： 在細(xì)讀這一過程主要培養(yǎng)學(xué)生理解文中具體信息和把握文章整體脈絡(luò)的閱讀理解能力， 同時(shí)也培養(yǎng)學(xué)生在閱讀過程中歸納段意及中心的能力。 Step 4 Speaking(Debating) 1. Play the video of the explosion of the Challenger for the students, then ask them: Should we continue to send people into space? 2. Teacher shows the topic on the screen Should we continue to send people into space? Group A : You are for the topic Group B: You are against the topic. 3. Divide the students into two groups and ask them to work in groups for discussion. Tell them they will hold a debate in class after their discussion. Give some useful expressions and ideas to help the students before the discussion (a few minutes later) Encourage them to hold a debate in class. 設(shè)計(jì)意圖： 在第三步中學(xué)生剛概括完P(guān)art2 的段意-- the writer’s witness of the explosion of the Challenger(作者目擊挑戰(zhàn)者號(hào)遇難)，教師就可以問學(xué)生：“你們看過了挑戰(zhàn)者號(hào)遇難的情景嗎”？進(jìn)而播放挑戰(zhàn)者號(hào)遇難的過程，當(dāng)學(xué)生還處在悲痛中時(shí)，教師進(jìn)一步問：“Should we continue to send people into space?” 這幾個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)層層緊扣，過渡自然，最后引導(dǎo)學(xué)生分組討論和辯論。 學(xué)習(xí)本文后，學(xué)生意識(shí)到人類在太空的探索過程中取得了成就，但也付出了代價(jià)。科學(xué)家們不畏艱難，為人類探索太空，和平開發(fā)利用空間資源而奮斗不止的精神鼓舞并激勵(lì)著同學(xué)們。 Step 5 Homework Make a time line of Chinese space exploration. 設(shè)計(jì)意圖： 鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生自主學(xué)習(xí)，上網(wǎng)去查詢并收集有關(guān)信息和資料。
